Vanuatu’s Bank has branches through out the island. Prior to to this communications project, the outer island banks had no computer access to customers’ accounts. The bank officers were forced to walk down the road to call the main office in Vila in order to confirm if the customer had adequate funds to make the deposit. Now, 11 of their branches have internet access and voip phones to the office in Port Vila. Oceanic Broadband and Kaleva Yachting Service traveled extensively throughout the country installing satellite dishes, complete with battery banks and solar panels to power them.
